President's Day week

Wow...what a week.  Where do I start?

Monday was President's Day, which meant that I had the day off from school (Nathan still had to work)!  I really miss the random snow days that I had last year as a teacher up north, so I decided to pretend like Monday was a snow day.   I still woke up early to be with Nathan, but got right to work after he left.  I was able to make three cloth diapers--they normally run $15-$20 each, but I made three with only $10 worth of materials!  They are pocket diapers, so I can add as much padding as BO needs (see the opening in the front?).

Pocket Diaper--just use the velcro tabs to put on like disposables.

We're still not decided 100% on cloth or disposable diapers, but we have decided a few things.  One...disposables for the first couple weeks or so to give me a chance to recoup and get used to being a mommy without having extra laundry.  Another is that we're planning on using disposable when we're out and about.  I don't think we'll know for sure what we'll be using until after BO is here, but it's nice knowing what the options are.

That evening, after Nathan came home from work, we got to have our own little family night together!  :)   I love that man!

Nathan and I have also spent some time looking at houses for sale--we're looking for the house the Lord has for us: whether we find one now, or continue to live where we are for a while.  We've been searching online as well as doing a bit of driving around in various neighborhoods.  While we were driving one day we had to wait for this little guy to cross the road.  :)  He reminded me of all the strays Dad brought home or to school.  :)

On Tuesday we took BO to the midwife to have another checkup.  Everything looks good, and we have an ultrasound on March 14 to find out if BO is a boy or girl.  I'm so excited!!  :)  I'll make sure to update the blog that night.

Every Friday, we get together with Nathan's family.  He's the oldest of five, and four or the five kids still live in FL.  Mom and Dad Ogden invite us over for food and fun!  We normally have pizza or something like that and either watch a movie or spend time playing a game or (the girls) singing around the piano.  These times have been so sweet to be a part of. This last week, Mom Ogden was reading to one of her grandkids, and it made the think of when she'll be reading to BO someday the same way.

This week for our family night, we moved everyone over to Nathan's sister and bro-in-law's house for Caleb's 4-year-old birthday, their second.

Well, that's about all we've done this week.  We spent this morning calling on our bus kids and working at our church's senior citizen outreach.  Besides those things, we managed to do some ordinary housework.  :)  Oh...and for supper tonight, I made my first calzone.  It definitely has room for improvement, but still tasted yummy!

Three Day Weekend!

Yeah!  Friday is finished...on to a three day weekend.  I have Monday off, but Nathan still has to work.  So I'm going to spend the day with baby BO.  Nathan and I have discussed using cloth diapers for the baby when he/she arrives.  They look and function just like disposable diapers and are a great cost saver.  We're still not 100% decided, but on Monday I'm going to try to make one for BO to get a better idea of time and money involved.  We'll see how it goes.  :)  Joann's is calling my name.  I'm also looking forward catching up on housework at home too.

Now...on to baby news!  We're  19 weeks today.  We've nicknamed the baby "BO" for Baby Ogden.  So far BO has been a great baby.  I was a bit sick the first trimester, but am feeling SO MUCH better now a days.  I think I started feeling BO kicking on Wednesday while I was playing the piano.  Wow...there's a little person in me!  :)  We're so excited to meet our little baby.  We don't know if it's a boy or girl, but are planning to find out the first week of March.  We find ourselves saying "he" or "him" more often then she/her.  However, we have more pink clothes than blue/neutral clothes.  :)  We're thrilled with whatever the Lord has planned for us.

Well, time for family night now with the in-laws (mom, dad, brothers, sisters, nephews, neice).

Until later (whenever that will be)  :)

First Try!

This is my first try at blogging.  I'm trying to think of ways to stay in touch with everyone.  I love my new home in FL, but I miss talking with my old friends.  Maybe blogging will help.

Right now we're about 19 weeks pregnant.  We've nicknamed the baby "BO."  Nathan is working full time at the college and my 13 sixth graders keep me busy during the day.  We love our life though!

Last Friday was Grandparent's Day at my school.  All the elementary classes did a short presentation for the grandparents, and then the grandparents were able to spend the morning in classes.  The lunch staff did a wonderful job on a special buffet meal for our guests, and many of our students were dismissed early to spend quality time with their grandparents in the afternoon.  I was so proud of my sixth graders.  They did such a GOOD job with their presentation.  We chose a patriotic theme for our presentation (since Presidents Day is coming up), and they did 2 choral reading pieces.  One was on the American Pledge, and one was on the Christian Pledge.  This was the first time many of them had solo speaking lines in public and they did great!  Ten of my 13 students were dismissed by lunch, so I hung out with three of my boys all afternoon.  We spent time with the first graders playing games.  Fun times!  :)

Grandparents Day also kicked off our Book Fair at school.  It's running all this week and ends tomorrow.  It's  fun to see my students looking at all the items.  I've never seen so many creative erasers and pencil sharpeners as I have at the Book Fair!  :)

Well, I have so much more I could share, but Baby BO needs to get his/her beauty sleep.  Hopefully I'll have more time this weekend to write more about the baby.  We have another checkup on Tuesday and gender ID ultrasound the first week in March!  I'm excited.
